The Solinst Levelogger 6 is a high-accuracy water level and temperature datalogger engineered for long-term groundwater, surface water, and environmental monitoring. Combining a pressure sensor, temperature detector, 10-year lithium battery, and datalogger in one compact instrument, the Levelogger 6 provides environmental professionals with a dependable solution for continuous water level monitoring in wells, streams, lakes, reservoirs, wetlands, and other water resources.

The Levelogger 6 stores up to 150,000 sets of water level and temperature readings and includes dedicated backup memory for the most recent 20,000 readings. Its rugged 22 mm (7/8") diameter stainless steel housing, corrosion-resistant baked-on coating, and double O-ring seals make it well suited for demanding long-term deployments.

High-Accuracy Water Level & Temperature Measurements

The Levelogger 6 measures absolute pressure using a piezoresistive silicon pressure sensor with a Hastelloy® sensor. Water level accuracy is ±0.05% full scale, with resolution ranging from 0.001% FS to 0.0006% FS depending on the selected model. The pressure sensor is designed to withstand up to two times over-pressure without permanent damage.

Temperature is measured using a Platinum Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD), providing an accuracy of ±0.05°C and resolution of 0.003°C. Automatic temperature compensation helps maintain stable water level measurements across changing field conditions.

Levelogger 6 models are available for a wide variety of monitoring depths. Available full-scale water level ranges include:

Flexible Sampling for Short- and Long-Term Monitoring

The Levelogger 6 supports Linear, Event-Based, and User-Selectable sampling modes. Linear measurement rates can be programmed from 1/8 second to 99 hours, providing flexibility for applications ranging from high-frequency pumping and slug tests to long-term groundwater trend monitoring.

Event-based sampling can record readings when water levels change by a user-defined threshold. The scheduling function supports up to 30 schedule items, each with its own sampling rate and duration, with an option to automatically repeat the schedule.

Advanced Levelogger 6 Data Management

Solinst Levelogger Software provides tools for programming dataloggers, downloading measurements, viewing data in graph or table format, and performing barometric compensation. Data analysis functions can calculate minimum, maximum, and average measurements over user-defined intervals, while filtering tools help isolate critical monitoring data. Multiple files can also be merged to simplify analysis of long-term monitoring projects.

Downloaded measurements can be exported to spreadsheets or databases for additional analysis and reporting.

Fast & Flexible Communication

The Levelogger 6 uses Solinst's single-eye optical interface and is compatible with existing Desktop Readers, Field Readers, PC Interface Cables, and Direct Read Cables. The newer Mk3 USB-C PC Interface Cable provides 19.2k Baud communication and doubles the communication speed of previous PC Interface Cables, helping reduce download time for large datasets.

Additional communication and data retrieval options include the Solinst Levelogger App Interface with Bluetooth®, Solinst Readout Unit (SRU), DataGrabber, LevelSender telemetry, SolSat satellite telemetry, and RRL Remote Radio Link. Levelogger 6 Series dataloggers can also support SDI-12 and MODBUS communications when used with the appropriate interface cable.

Accurate Barometric Compensation

Because the Levelogger 6 measures absolute pressure, recorded measurements include both water and atmospheric pressure. For accurate changes in water level, atmospheric pressure fluctuations can be compensated using a Solinst Barologger 6 and the Levelogger Software Data Wizard.

One Barologger can be used to compensate Leveloggers within approximately a 30 km (20 mile) radius and/or for every 300 m (1,000 ft.) change in elevation, helping simplify larger groundwater monitoring networks.
