Solinst Model 101 P7 Water Level Meter
The Solinst Model 101 P7 Water Level Meter is a portable instrument for manually measuring depth to water in wells, boreholes, standpipes, and tanks. It combines a submersible P7 probe with permanently laser-marked PVDF flat tape. Laser-Marked PVDF Flat Tape
The Model 101 P7 uses durable 3/8 in. (10 mm) PVDF flat tape with permanent laser markings. Imperial configurations are marked every 1/100 ft., while metric configurations are marked every millimeter. These graduations describe the spacing of the tape markings.
The tape’s dog-bone profile helps reduce adherence to wet surfaces and allows it to hang straight during use. Stainless steel and copper-coated steel conductors provide strength and electrical continuity. The tape is traceable to NIST and EU measurement standards and can be spliced or repaired according to the applicable Solinst instructions.
Manual Water Level Measurement
Lower the probe until the buzzer and light indicate contact with water, then read the tape at your reference point. Use a consistent reference point for repeat measurements and follow the manufacturer’s guidance for the tape guide and any required measurement correction.
The 101 P7 is suitable for routine groundwater monitoring, environmental site investigations, hydrogeological studies, and well development activities. It does not automatically record readings over time or measure water temperature, conductivity, or oil-water interfaces.
